
Kato Thompson
Administrative Support Specialist for Student Employment and Internships
While attending Appalachian State University, Kato Thompson held several part-time positions in University Housing and the greater High Country community to assist with educational expenses. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Development, Kato completed a professional internship with Disney's Animal Kingdom and then taught environmental education at the Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh, North Carolina. Realizing the mountains were calling her home, Kato joined the Career Development Center team Spring of 2017 as a Support Specialist. Kato works with on-campus supervisors to create meaningful job opportunities for students and she also helps students navigate on-campus employment. In her spare time, Kato can be found enjoying the outdoors with her husband, Jared, and hiking with her dog, Nelli.
