Career Readiness Competencies

Appalachian State University provides valuable employment opportunities for students to gain career readiness skills that will serve them for many years after they leave App State. Each campus job description for student employee positions should identify the career readiness competencies that job includes. The career readiness competencies are recognized by our professional association, National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), as a standard for student employment excellence.

Career readiness is a foundation from which to demonstrate requisite core competencies that broadly prepare the college educated for success in the workplace and lifelong career management. Our goal is to develop a common language and expectation that each student job at App State will incorporate these competencies allowing students to identify these skills they are obtaining during their times of employment on campus.
