The Career Development Center has connected me with opportunities I didn't even know were possible. From helping me prepare for applications and internships to being able to assist other students, this has been one of the most significant contributions to my college career. I currently work as a Career Guide in the Center's new Career Studio, a drop-in period for students to receive peer assistance with all things professional development. The ability to utilize Career Development Center resources as well as give back to other students has been wonderful.

The connections I have made within the Career Development Center and broader at Appalachian State will serve me throughout my career. As I prepare to enter the student affairs field, these relationships have already proven extremely beneficial to my professional success.

I was told when I first entered college that "today's preparation is tomorrow's achievement." This has stuck with me and truly served me well. Feeling prepared has always helped me manage my time when I feel stressed and anticipate surprises when things come up.

Working in the Career Studio has taught me a lot about myself and those around me. I have come to develop wonderful relationships with my coworkers and learned a sense of confidence in myself.

App has given me opportunities to learn and develop a sense of self. Make use of the resources App has available for you!

Through working at the Career Development Center, I have gained a stronger understanding of resumes, cover letters, and the job application process as a whole. Through the many clubs, organizations, and events I've had the chance to be a part of here at App, I've grown far more as a person than I would ever have expected. If you have lots of assignments at the same time, sit down and focus on one. It's better to make significant progress on only one assignment than to get nowhere with any of them.

I originally came to the Career Development Center my freshman year when I was in a panic that my resume wasn't good enough to apply for jobs. The resources were extremely helpful, and a few months later after when I was looking for a part-time job, I received a position at the Career Center as an Office Assistant. It's been a great place to work and I highly recommend visiting to any student to further your career skills.

I have been a part of the inaugural group of Career Guides at the Career Development Center, where we've been able to help our fellow students further their career readiness and preparation. It's been a great experience and has opened doors for other potential opportunities in my collegiate and further career.

I see education at Appalachian in the mountains as more than just a degree, but also what I see as a mini-vacation. Not many times in your life will you get an opportunity like you would here, living life in the mountains for four years or more. And getting an education in this environment, it's a really cool opportunity.
