Career Fair for the Class

Career fairs are one of the most effective ways for students to connect with employers, explore career paths, and practice professional skills. We encourage you to integrate these events into your class by offering participation as an assignment, extra credit opportunity, or professional development activity.

How It Works

  • Encourage attendance. Let your students know about upcoming career fairs and highlight how these events relate to your course or major.

  • Flexible scheduling. If the career fair takes place during your class time, you are welcome to send students in place of class.

  • Attendance tracking. We can provide you with a verified list of students who checked in at the fair so you can award credit or confirm participation.

Benefits for Students

  • Meet employers actively recruiting for internships, part-time jobs, and full-time opportunities.

  • Learn more about career paths connected to their major or interests.

  • Practice networking, communication, and professional etiquette in a supportive setting.

  • Gain insights into current industry needs and hiring trends.

Tips for Faculty

  • Announce career fairs in class and post them to your syllabus, Blackboard, or class communication tools.

  • Frame the fair as a chance for experiential learning—students can research employers ahead of time and write a short reflection after attending.

  • Consider giving extra credit for activities like collecting employer business cards, asking informed questions, or attending a related workshop.

  • Follow up in class by inviting students to share what they learned, reinforcing career readiness as part of their academic journey.

Upcoming Career Fairs

A full calendar of events is available on Handshake. Encourage your students to log in with their App State credentials to view employers attending, prepare in advance, and register.
