Sponsorship for Appalachian Student Attendance at the NC Chamber Women > A Force in Business Conference

Partner with Appalachian State University Career Development Center to support student participation in the NC Chamber's annual women's conference, held on November 19, 2019. In fall 2018, 8 women attended the conference with Career Development Center staff. Participating students represented a variety of majors ranging from STEM to Business to Gender Studies and had interests in meeting employers in healthcare, energy, IT, and life science. Comments about the value of the experience included:

"This conference was an eye-opening experience where women were able to come together and learn from each other in ways that couldn't have been accomplished any other way. It's a great opportunity for networking, but also learning something new about yourself and professional settings overall."

"I wish more people could come to this conference because it was an amazing opportunity for me."

"As an introvert, networking is a skill I have to learn and the more practice I had at the conference, the more confident I grew. You definitely come out of the conference learning how to be your most authentic self while networking."

"The breakout sessions provide a platform for women aspiring to enter business careers or become entrepreneurs to ask questions and ask for guidance. I also really enjoyed listening to the keynote speakers that reflected on their journey and inspired the audience with their commitment to their social mission."

"Back in October I attended the NC Chamber Women's Conference with you and several ladies. I remember how I was so excited and informed you how I had met Biogen and how I had given them my resume. After several phone calls, invitations, and an interview, I am now a Biogen employee."

The Career Development Center is seeking sponsorship to support another cohort of students. A sponsorship of $250 will cover conference registration, travel, dinner with women alumni in the Triangle, and an overnight stay.
