Deanne Smith
Assistant Director of Employer Development and Relations
Deanne Smith is known for connecting people and purposes, which makes her ideal for our Employer Relations team. Almost all of her professional career has been at Appalachian State University and related to student recruitment, outreach, and relationship development of all kinds. Previous positions include Scholarship Coordinator and Director of the Martha Guy Summer Institute. A passionate student advocate, Deanne thrives on networking and engaging students with employers, alumni, and other contacts to help them develop personally and professionally. She earned an undergraduate degree in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, both from Appalachian. She is married, a mother of three, and loves musical theater, live music and any opportunity to read.
