As a parent of a student or recent graduate, you are a great resource to ASU students seeking information about career options. Do consider offering your expertise about your career field!
Many students are hesitant to reach out to an unfamiliar source. You can provide a warm contact because the student or ASU alum will know you areconnected to Appalachian State and you share a common interest with our campus community.
Career Information Network
Some students seek professionals to whom they can direct meaningful questions about what it really means to be a professional in a field. For these students, we maintain the Career Information Network (CIN). Students will contact you via phone or e-mail to gain insight into the details ofthe profession(s) you know so well.
Mock Interviews
The mock interview program is another great way for parents to get involved. These practice interviews provide meaningful assistance to students polishing their interviewing skills for internships or full-time employment.
Etiquette Luncheon
Our Etiquette Luncheon provides students a chance to brush up on their dining etiquette. Parents are welcome guests at the tables where students practice their abilities to eat and converse simultaneously.
Employer Panels, Information Sessions, Class Visits
Many parents work for employers seeking new graduates as hires or as interns. Consider taking a day from the office to assist your employer with their recruitment needs by spending the day at Appalachian State! Students enjoy learning more about employment opportunities through information sessions, class visits, and employer panels.
