Recording Your Mock Interview
| The Career Development Center offers students the ability to record their one on one mock interviews using a web camera. Typically, the interview can be recorded using Windows Movie Maker which creates a windows media video (.mwv) file. If the interviewee wishes to retain a copy of the interview, we ask that they bring a USB flash drive with about 100 MB of free space. They may save their interview and take the file with them on their travel drive. Students should have a basic understanding of Windows Movie Maker and saving files to a USB flash drive. See the steps below for more information. |
Recording Steps:
Step1: Open Windows Movie Maker from the desktop or start menu if it is not already open. The desktop shortcut is named, "Record a Mock."
Step 2: On the left hand side, click “Capture from video device”.
Step 3: Make sure microphone input level is set high, but not at the max and click “Next”.
Step 4: Enter a filename for the recording. Notice the save location, typically “My Videos”.
Step 5: Designate video settings or select "Best quality for playback on my computer", then click “Next”.
Step 6: Click “Start Capture” to start recording and click “Stop Capture” to stop recording. Then click “Finish” when you are done. A thumbnail for the video will appear in the storyboard.
Step 7: You can review the video or save it to a USB Flash drive by dragging the file from the “My Videos” folder (My Videos is in My Documents) to the destination folder on your travel drive.
