Our Mission
The Career Development Center empowers students and alumni to select and pursue careers consistent with their values, interests, abilities, experiences, and education.
The Career Development Center works to facilitate the University’s goal of economic development for the region. Our staff works to develop the career and professional skills of students, and facilitates unions between our students and employers that benefit the state as a whole.
Our Vision
We provide the resources for all Appalachian students and alumni to learn life-long career development skills and to navigate a rapidly changing global workforce.Our Services
- Career Fairs- Students meet with over 100 potential employers who are recruiting ASU students.
- Career Gear- software for online job/internship postings, and job/internship searches.
- Career Information Network- An online database of Appalachian alumni and parents.
- Drop-Ins- A 10-15 minute meeting with a counseling professional.
- Individualized Counseling- on self-managed career development.
- Student Employment- For identifying part-time, on- and off-campus, and work study placement.
- On-campus interviews- for job and internship opportunities.
- Peer Career- provides paraprofessional career counseling, career information, and major specific guidance.
- Resume clinics- Students receive on the spot resume feedback from our career counselors.
- Request a Workshop - students and faculty may request presentations for ASU classes, clubs, and organizations.
- Student Computer Lab- A quiet place for students to work on resumes, career research, and utilize Career Gear.
