I won’t give away the story (just in case anyone still needs to see it), but Rebecca basically digs herself into a huge hole all because of her inability to stop shopping. She gets hired as a financial journalist, but secretly is in debt up to her eyeballs.
The movie has a happy ending, but in real life there is no way it would end happily. She would probably be blacklisted from any job she applied for, based on her deceitfulness. It is hard to overcome dishonesty, and it is really a small world.
The point of the blog today, is simply this: Never exaggerate anything on your resume, or imply something that isn’t true. Although it is more difficult to get a job these days than before, that still means that you should stay honest about yourself, your experiences, and your abilities. If you ever lied on a resume or overstated something, and it were to come out, the implications of that to your future could be devastating. There would be no happy ending, like in the movies.
